A few practiced taps to her omnitool opened up Tali’s comm channel. She waited for a response before clearing her throat. “Tali, could you come up to the captain’s cabin please? I have something that needs your immediate attention.” She tried to keep her tone as neutral as possible, to give the impression that this was just like any other day, and that this was just ship business. Shepard paused for an affirmation before closing the channel and waiting.
It had taken her quite a while to spread flower petals in a trail from the door, down the stairs and to the bed. Although the trickier part had been finding flower petals that wouldn’t trigger an allergic reaction with Tali’s body chemistry. The almost neon heliotrope color wasn’t nearly as romantic as rose petals, but it wasn’t like the quarian would have such a comparison. There was a full bouquet in a vase on the coffee table (she’d disinfected it herself), situated next to a box of dextro-safe candy arranged in a heart shaped box.

Shepard herself was draped across the bed in nothing but a pair of boyshorts and a military cut jacket in alliance nave blue. Now all she could do was wait. And worry that everything wasn’t one hundred percent perfect for her girlfriend on Valentine’s Day.
